Let me begin by saying I normally avoid "death fics"-- I find them to be very . . . difficult to read. And then I saw your name attached. I've decided to take a bit of a leap here because I trust you as a writer.
You've done a lovely job so far. The first chapter was structured splendidly. Knowing where this story was going to go changed nothing. It was a bit like watching a car wreck in slow motion; I kept waiting for something to change the inevitable outcome, hoping that each little decision and action would led somewhere else.
Your second chapter is equally well done. I feel so keenly for each character as they begin to question themselves and fall apart. I am curious to see what this does to Buzz, how it will crack and tarnish that boy scout demeanor. It's strange but I am worried the most about Lassiter. In the coming chapters, he will have to prop a lot of people up and, in some ways, won't be expected to grieve.
Thank you for providing us with two well-writen, heart wrenching chapters. I look forward (can that be said of something that promises to be so sad?) to your next chapter.
Author's Response: Death fics are an odd animal all on their own, I admit. I was ignorant of how they're seen when I posted my first ever Psychfic on this site, which happened to be...you guessed it...a death fic! lol. Well, these things have a tendency to come up that way to me and who am I but to follow wherever the muse leads me? ;) I really liked starting off with a chapter where no one has died yet, and we actually get to see in detail the tiny little steps and decisions that lead us to that one major event. Many death fics (especially my first one) are retrospective, but this time I wanted to lead up to what actually happened. I'm glad it comes across so well. Thanks so much for your kind and thoughtful review!

So I don't have internet in my house, but being the psychfic junkie I am, I've been saving certain stories at the library and then taking them home to read... And this one made the cut, because I am a sucker for a story like this.
So I read it and got to the end of this first chapter and was like noooo... What a way to leave it dude. I seriously can't wait to read the rest of the story.
I love love love the tiny part about Shawn letting his imagination take over. I'm already pretty endeared to this character (go figure), but that little bit endeared me even more.
It's great seeing your name on the updated story list. Hope to see it at the top again soon. (:
