LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS XD
Shawn being all nonchalant about what happened while being covered in blood XD
I love the idea of Shawn with a sword. I mean we have that one scene in the dojo but does it really count XD
So much love for this.

Ahhh so I remember this being one of the first Psych fics I ever read and it's even better to me now somehow? I just LOVE the whole dynamic between Shawn and Henry in this you write them SOOOO WELL. Also, I agree there is a severe lack of teen Shawn whump XD I'm really glad you wrote this whole thing out from the initial accident to Shawn's fears and reactions to Henry's attempts at making things right and trying to comfort Shawn. And then him admitting there was something wrong. And then to him actually recovering and seeing it through to the end thanks to encouragement from Gus and guidance from Henry. And then of course the ending with the motorcycle is too perfect XD
But, uh, yeah. I just really love this story... It's also the first car crash fic I read in the fandom so I think it set my expectations a little too high when I read other related story ideas lol. Great job, as always.

I'm in awe of your review! You have really brightened my morning and it's so lovely to hear you enjoyed it. I was surprised when you mentioned this was one of your first Psych fics because holy cow, it's been six years?? Man, does time fly.
I've been thinking about undergoing serious editing because there are a lot of things I'd like to sift through and change.
But thank you so much for your amazing words! After the shit week I've had your review left such a breath of fresh air. Fanfic authors tend to have a handful of memorable reviews and you're definitely one of them!

I can't handle how much I love this XD The humor is perfect, I caught myself laughing aloud a lot, and then the ending has all those feels...X3 I am both happy and maybe a little bit sad, now. :P

Oh, CK. I don't even know how to describe the way you always seem to capture the relationship between Henry and Shawn so flawlessly, because you do, every single time.

I'm just going to put this out there: I love this. I'm usually not a fan of young!Shawn, but that's because it's usually 5-10 year old Shawn. What I like about this is that it's teen!Shawn. I don't think I've read any fics like this.
Of course I love whump, which this had, and it just made it better.
But, those points aside, what I was really focused on was the Shawn/Henry relationship in this story. I've always been a fan of their father/son bonding, both on the show and in fanfiction (but let's be honest, definitely more in fanfiction). This is the most perfect depiction of it I've seen. Shawn, stubborn as he is, eventually succumbs to Henry, but it's not too fast or too slow. It's like the timing is perfect.
I'm also happy to see Gus have his part in Shawn's recovery. He certainly does seem like a sort of mediator between them; he's a good kid, so he'll do what Henry says when he needs to, and he's Shawn's best friend.
Lastly, it ties together so well. Thank you, thank you, thank you for having him buy the motorcycle at the end. To be honest, I always thought of Shawn's decision to get one as a only rebellious act, but this makes it seem like he's actually trying to do what his dad wants him to: recover. Of course, it's Shawn, so there still is the rebelliousness (Gus took another look at the motorised bike before commenting with certainty, "Your dad's gonna be pissed." "That, my friend," his best friend's features shaped the very familiar mischievous, trademark grin, "...is the bonus.")but that's not all it is. Which I love.
All in all, this is a great one-shot, the length was perfect, of course you did well, and the House reference thing sucks, but I loved it anyway. Great job!
Author's Response: Okay wow I only just stumbled on this marvellous review. Thank you so much for leaving such wonderful compliments! Even though it's been 3 years since I wrote the fic it makes me glad that people seem to still enjoy it :)
