I'm 29, female, and I have earned an M.F.A. in English/ Creative Writing from Long Island University. I've been interested in writing most of my life, and started writing poetry (which is the genre I mostly studied in school) when I was 12 or 13. My dream is to become a published and successful author/ poet/ writer of books.
I started writing fanfiction back in college, around 2000. I'm much more confident now about my ability to transition from poetry to fanfiction short stories/ chapters. Mostly everything I write has some kind of darkness to it. I enjoy writing/ reading in the genres of Hurt/Comfort, Angst, Mystery, Suspense, Action/Adventure, Drama mostly, though I think I'm starting to learn Humor, still pretty dark for now. I love Psych; everything about the show and the fics has become an all consuming fire in my life— pushing me to be creative during my waking hours and in my nightly dreams. Lassiter is my favorite character, but all of the characters have really grown on me and made an impact; they each want their own voices to be "heard".
I'm happy to say that my first completed Psych fic, "Ask For Another Day", came out so well and even "good". Good. Wow. I'm very proud of this first one, my "baby", which brought such hope and happiness that I can really accomplish my goals. It feels like I just wrote my first "book", and it's a wonderful, touch-the-stars-up-above feeling. I hope that, by writing fanfiction, and feeling like I'm "doing a good job with it", that I can get my confidence up enough to actually write and publish a book.
Currently, I have two WIPs and another longer one in mind (though I think I should try to complete the two WIPs before I begin that one).
