Arthur Wellington had been missing for three days. But he wasn’t any longer. His body had just washed up at the pier and the SBPD suspected foul play. Chief Vick was preparing to assign the case when “Hot Blooded” split the silence of the crime scene.
“Sorry,” an embarrassed Detective O’Hara apologized as she dug the offending phone out of her pocket and flipped it open.
“Hello?”
“There’s been a break-in at the Psych office.”
“Shawn?” Juliet inquired, signaling “one moment” to the chief before moving a short distance away.
“Has anything been taken?”
“No...I don’t think...(pause)...Yes....”
As silence settled over the line, Juliet became increasingly worried.
“What, Shawn? ...What’s missing?!!”
Another long pause, then one word.
“Gus.”
